California Carbon Allowance Vintage-Specific Futures

These new California Carbon Allowance (CCA) futures contracts complement our existing global emissions contracts and enable seamless trading between environment spot and futures markets.

These emission products are being launched in partnership with CBL Markets, the leading spot exchange operator for environmental commodity markets across the US, EU and Asia Pacific.

Market participants will be able to submit CCA futures for clearing through CME ClearPort or transact CCA futures on CME Globex on March 13, 2017. Initially, firms will be able to submit these emission market products through CBL Markets to CME ClearPort. Soon, firms will be able to also access CCA futures on CME Globex through CBL Markets.

Delivery Procedure Delivery shall take place on the third business day after the final day of trading. Should the Compliance Instrument Tracking System Service  (CITSS) be inoperable during the Delivery Period due to periodic maintenance that is an Exchange business day, the Exchange shall have the option to extend the Delivery Period to the next valid business day at the Registry and Exchange.
