CME Group is aware of mobile applications, websites, social media profiles and other online content that fraudulently references our brand, logo and products. Scammers often pose as recruiters and other company representatives, aiming to solicit financial transactions and investment schemes.

CME Group takes all allegations of fraud very seriously. If you encounter any suspicious activity, please alert us by submitting a report here.

Red Flags for Fraudulent Communications

Official correspondence from CME Group employees will always come from an email address ending with @cmegroup.com. Always check the sender’s email address. Other red flags that a message may be  fraudulent include:

  • Unsolicited messages over email, messaging applications, or social media
  • Grammatical or spelling errors
  • Unexpected request for financial information
  • Request for credentials, including personally identifying information, passwords, MFA codes, etc.
  • Pressure and requests for payment via gift cards or cryptocurrency
  • Any guarantee of profits or returns

CME Group will never:

  • Guarantee profits. If anyone approaches you with investment opportunities with guaranteed results, it is likely a scam.
  • Solicit business over Telegram, WhatsApp, or other encrypted messaging platforms. Company correspondence will only come from a CME Group email address.
  • Require job applicants to pay an application or background check fee. Any job offer requesting payments for a background check, training, or technical equipment is likely fake.
  • Request payment in cryptocurrency or gift cards. Do not send any payment to a “CME Group” cryptocurrency wallet or via gift cards.
  • Require customers to share passwords or MFA codes.  Any requests for credentials are a red flag.
  • Pressure clients to invest. Fraudsters may attempt to create a sense of urgency or pressure to send funds.
  • Offer payment for movie reviews or “liking” online pages. Official CME Group job openings can be found at cmegroup.com/careers
  • Demand payment - such as taxes or or undisclosed “fees” - to release your funds. All fees associated with trading and clearing at CME Group can be found on cmegroup.com/company/clearing-fees.html
  • Direct you to any website other than cmegroup.com

If you are in the U.K., you can file a report with ActionFraud, the National Fraud and Cyber Crime Reporting Centre.
