Revised Reminder: the Green Exchange is coming to New Release on Monday, January 11

This is a reminder that the Green Exchange Venture products (GEX) are coming to the New Release testing environment this coming Monday, January 11. On this day, for testing purposes only, the product exchange will change from NYMEX to GEX for nineteen (19) futures and options products.  The firm exchange used in Front-End Clearing and on FIXML messages will remain as NYMEX.  In other words, during the testing process and on a going forward basis, the Green Exchange Venture products (both before and after designation of the Green Exchange as a separate contract market) will function in a manner analogous to that of COMEX – it is its own product exchange, but uses the NYMEX firm exchange.  (This is to avoid creating a new set of firm numbers.)

The change this Monday affects only the New Release environment, so that firms can test their systems.  The date for the corresponding change in production has not yet been set. It is anticipated that the Green Exchange will be established as a separate designated contract market in 2010, following submission of a DCM application to the CFTC and after formal review and approval by the CFTC of that application.
