UpdateGLink Network Infrastructure Upgrade in Aurora - This Week

† Denotes update to the article

The GLink Network Infrastructure Upgrade in Aurora will take place this Saturday, February 3. This network upgrade consists of:

  • Replacement of the existing end of life (EOL) Juniper switches with new Arista switches which will use new customer ports and new CME Group IP addresses
  • Assignment of new GLink SiteIDs and Point-to-Point IPs by CME Group
  • Customers are required to reuse their original Juniper customer source IP addresses
  • Introduction of a new GLink Demarc Cable providing customers with equidistant connectivity to any rack unit (RU) in their cabinet

To ensure stability for our customers prior to launch, CME Group has instituted a full freeze. The freeze includes: move, add, change, and provision requests, and will last until after migration February 2024. Juniper GLinks can no longer be ordered. Customers will be able to place orders for new GLinks on the Arista network during the freeze. Orders received during the freeze will be provisioned and activated in the order they were received after the launch.

The expanded Arista network will provide additional capacity to support future growth.

In addition, the new GLink Demarc Cable will allow customers to optimize their CME Co-Location Licensed Space. CME Group has installed GLink Demarc Cables into customers' cabinets. The customer self-testing phase began January 12 and runs through Friday, February 2. For more information on customer self-testing see the Client System Impact.

The migration to the new GLink network will happen on Saturday, February 3, with a production Go Live set for Sunday, February 4.

An updated Client System Impact, with dates, updated migration information, and technical specifications, is now available. For questions, please contact Global Account Management.

Co-location Visitors Traffic During Migration Weekend

In anticipation of heavy visitor and badge access traffic on migration weekend, CME Group asks all customers to do the following to reduce the wait time for gaining access to both the front gate and data halls:

  1. Pre-register your visitors as soon as possible to speed up the badging process.
  2. Utilize either the East gate off Eola or the North gate off Diehl to access the parking lot. Please be sure all occupants of the vehicle have been listed on a visitor request or have their C1 badges (carpooling is encouraged where possible).
  3. All visitors must have a government issued photo ID to get through security and obtain a visitor badge.
  4. Visitors must be escorted throughout their visit.
  5. Please allow extra time upon arrival to get through security.

NewiLink 3 CGW Session Migration - December 31

On Sunday, January 29, CME Group completed the launch of iLink 3 on Convenience Gaeway (CGW), a binary order entry protocol for trading futures and options markets on CME Globex designed to provide more efficient iLink FIX messaging.

Currently, Convenience Gateway sessions support both iLink 2.X and iLink 3 messaging protocols. By December 31, all customers connected via CGW will need to migrate to the iLink 3 sessions as iLink 2.X CGW sessions will be decommissioned. A charge of $1,000 USD per iLink session per week is applied to each session that has not yet migrated to iLink 3.

Effective Sunday, February 2, 2025, iLink 2 on CGW will be decommissioned and all CGW sessions will support iLink 3.
