CBOT Futures Daily Open Interest Surpasses 10 Million Contracts

CHICAGO, IL, May 2, 2007 – The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT®) today announced that futures open interest reached a new daily record yesterday, as futures open interest surpassed 10 million contracts for the first time. The new record, 10,031,752 contracts, surpasses the previous high of 9,976,613 contracts.  

Open interest represents the number of trading positions that have not yet been offset and closed at the end of a trading day.
