New York, N.Y., December 5, 2006 —The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc. announced today that its information technology department was named "Best IT Team" at the American Financial Technology Awards 2006 at a ceremony held in New York City on December 4.

NYMEX Chairman Richard Schaeffer and NYMEX Chief Information Officer Samuel Gaer accepted the award on the company's behalf. Other competitors in the category included Credit Suisse Prime Services and Knight Capital Group.

NYMEX was recognized for implementation of its new IT infrastructure last year, its emphasis on and results regarding systems up-time, and the successful migration of its core contracts to CME Globex®.
