Exchange to Change Margins for Gold, Silver Futures Contract

NEW YORK, N.Y., January 27, 2006 — The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., today announced margin changes for its gold and silver futures contract, beginning at the close of business on January 30.

Margins for the gold futures contract will increase to $1,750 from $1,500 for clearing and non-clearing members and to $2,363 from $2,025 for customers.

Margins for the silver futures contract will increase to $2,250 from $2,000 for clearing and non-clearing members and to $3,038 from $2,700 for customers.
