Exchange Sets Daily Volume Record on NYMEX ClearPort(sm)

New York, N.Y., May 27, 2005 — The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., announced today that a record 177,212 contracts were cleared through NYMEX ClearPortsm yesterday, surpassing the previous record of 167,226 contracts cleared on April 26.

Exchange President James E. Newsome said, "The NYMEX ClearPortsm clearing platform provides market participants with counterparty credit risk protection for off-exchange transactions. We are pleased with our customers' ever-increasing participation and trust in these off-exchange clearing services."
