2020 was yet another year of record volume growth for steel markets at CME Group. Both US Midwest HRC and Busheling Ferrous Scrap continued to deepen their footprint, with more trading activity and more participants than ever before. At the same time, the Exchange successfully introduced two highly anticipated contracts to its ferrous product suite, namely European HRC futures and a Galvanized Steel premium contract that complements US Midwest HRC. Steel prices ended the year on a high note and printed record levels of above $1,000/s.t. for US Midwest HRC.
