December Copper futures hit a five-week low before experiencing a rebound to finish the session in positive territory. The recovery in the metals market was largely supported by a rally in technology stocks. Copper remains closely tied to the tech sector due to its critical role in data centers and artificial intelligence power infrastructure, which helps buoy demand during broader market shifts. Looking ahead, market expectations point toward the Federal Reserve leaving interest rates unchanged at the October FOMC meeting, with the CME FedWatch Tool indicating a 92.2% probability of a pause. However, stronger-than-expected manufacturing data from the U.K. and the U.S. elevates the prospect of a rate hike at the December meeting, putting potential pressure on Copper futures as higher interest rates typically strengthen the dollar.
