Todd Colvin discusses the latest price action in the interest rates market, highlighting the recent consolidation in U.S. 10-Year Treasury yields. Following a massive 50-basis-point surge in September, yields have nudged lower by three basis points so far in October, marking only their second weekly decline in the last six weeks. Colvin notes that despite yields ticking up slightly on Friday, the broader weekly trend shifted lower after reaching a new move high of 5.36% on Wednesday. Additionally, the CVOL Index indicates muted volatility heading into the weekend. Looking ahead, markets will shift focus to key macroeconomic indicators, including crucial inflation data from the upcoming CPI and PPI reports, retail sales figures, and scheduled remarks from the Fed Chair in Thailand.
