Oliver Sloup of Blue Line Futures breaks down the latest price action across the grain complex following the holiday weekend. Corn futures finished slightly lower despite a strong weekly export inspection report that saw 1.66 million metric tons, well above expectations, with Mexico and Japan taking 45% of the total. Soybean futures posted a modest recovery, climbing 6.5 cents to 1316'2 as traders continue to monitor Midwest weather models pointing to above-normal precipitation in the 6- to 10-day outlook. Meanwhile, Wheat futures saw strong gains to close at 747'0 as the 14-day average true range expands beyond 30 cents.
