Virginia McGathey analyzes the livestock market, noting that Live Cattle futures were pressured by ongoing liquidation, dropping $20.80 over three weeks to a new seven-month low. The October contract closed lower at $209.52. Feeder Cattle futures saw mixed trading as packers held out for lower prices, though the October contract managed a slight recovery to $314.05 after a $5 range. Lean Hogs futures traded sideways over the past five days, maintaining a modest 95-cent range despite slightly lower cutout values. The CVOL Index measured 19.4% for Live Cattle futures, 19.1% for Feeder Cattle futures, and 20.5% for Lean Hogs futures.
