Virginia McGathey reviews the mixed trading session across the livestock markets, starting with Live Cattle futures, which found support from severe heat reducing supplies and solid overall demand. October Live Cattle futures saw notable gains as box prices began to firm up. The strength extended into Feeder Cattle futures, which rallied despite the reopening of the U.S.-Mexico border, as immediate supply impacts are not anticipated. Conversely, Lean Hog futures pulled back slightly due to overbought conditions. However, the underlying demand remains robust, suggesting packers will likely need to step up purchasing in the near future.
