Live Cattle and Feeder Cattle futures closed lower today, with the August Live Cattle contract dropping $1.15 to settle at 242.42 and August Feeder Cattle shedding $2.87. Conversely, Lean Hog futures saw positive trade across the board as the August contract gained $0.92 to settle at 98.20. Wholesale boxed beef prices were firm, with Choice cuts up $3.54 and Select cuts rising $1.17. Meanwhile, the five-area average price for live steers eased slightly to 259.34. In volatility tracking, CME CVOL for both Live and Feeder Cattle settled at 15.87%, near the low end of their yearly range, while Lean Hog CVOL slipped to 21.42%.
