Grain futures finished lower following the long holiday weekend, pressured by weakness in the energy complex and shifting weather patterns. July Corn futures closed down at 457'4, while new-crop December Corn futures declined to 482'0. Soybean futures also faced downward pressure, with the July contract falling to 1185'0 and November Soybeans shedding value to end at 1188'2. In the wheat market, July Chicago Wheat futures declined to 635'4, while Kansas City Hard Red Winter Wheat futures also dropped. Although dry weather accelerated springtime planting across the U.S. Midwest, it raised concerns about lingering dryness in the northern plains. Meanwhile, weekly export inspections showed strong demand, with Corn futures inspections rising to 1.6 million metric tons and Wheat futures hitting 368,000 metric tons.
