Cattle futures faced renewed pressure in today's trade, with June Live Cattle futures dropping 2.52 to settle at 243.52 and August Feeder Cattle futures falling 2.40 to 359.12. Conversely, Lean Hog futures found a firmer tone, led by the June contract gaining 1.47 to 103.02. In the cash market, wholesale boxed beef reports showed continued strength as choice cuts rose 3.49 and select cuts climbed 5.45. Meanwhile, Monday's daily slaughter was reported at 97,000 head, a decrease of 7,000 from the previous week. CME CVOL continues to trend higher for both Live Cattle futures and Feeder Cattle futures over the last week and a half, with Live Cattle CVOL gaining 0.6% to reach 18.05%.
