Livestock markets saw upward movement today as environmental factors and shifts in consumer demand impacted the beef and pork complexes. Live Cattle futures trended higher following reports of pasture fires, which introduced supply concerns into the market. Despite these pressures, the trade maintained a largely sideways trajectory throughout the first quarter. Feeder Cattle futures also gained ground, supported by rising cash and box prices. In the pork sector, Lean Hog futures marked their seventh consecutive day of gains. This continued market support is attributed to strong consumer demand as buyers pivot toward pork in response to elevated beef prices. Market fundamentals across the beef complex remain firm as traders monitor seasonal demand shifts and volatility levels across the livestock sector.
