Grain markets finished the session with mixed results. March Corn futures settled 1.75 cents lower at 426'4, while March Soybean futures led the complex, settling 5.5 cents higher at 1067'2. Chicago Wheat futures also saw gains, settling at 523'6. The USDA reported significant flash sales, including 110,000 metric tons of corn and 306,000 metric tons of sorghum. Weekly export inspections were robust, with corn at 1.51 million metric tons and soybeans at 1.32 million metric tons, both near the upper end of market expectations. In South America, market participants are monitoring the Brazilian soybean harvest, which is noted as the largest on record. Conversely, intense heat and dry conditions in Argentina have begun to pressure yield potential for the 93% of the corn crop and 96% of the soybean crop currently planted.
