January Natural Gas futures declined for the third session in four, reaching a near one-month low amid expectations for milder weather and ample supply. The contract saw its largest single-session percentage drop since 2020. EIA data indicated a net draw of 177 billion cubic feet, bringing working gas in storage to 3,746 billion cubic feet. While inventories are below year-ago levels, they remain 103 billion cubic feet above the five-year average. Frigid temperatures across the Midwest and Northeast are projected to boost demand through the weekend, but a warming trend across the U.S. is expected to lower consumption heading into next week.
