Livestock markets finished mixed, with February Live Cattle futures gaining $0.27 to settle at 226.95 after trading in a $3 range. Conversely, January Feeder Cattle futures dropped to 335.50, and February Lean Hog futures fell to 81.87. Wholesale boxed beef showed strength as Choice cuts rose $2.07 to 362.97, and cash steer prices remained firm at 221.21. Daily slaughter came in at 115,000 head, matching last week's pace, while implied volatility for cattle contracts retreated significantly.
