Live cattle markets firmed up today as supplies remain tight and the nearby December contract is still at a discount to the expired October contract, while feeder cattle were also higher, bolstered by strong box prices and continuous consumer beef demand despite high prices. Lean hogs saw mixed trading, initially dipping to a new low, which was expected to spark demand, but quickly rebounding to end the day largely unchanged.
