Equity markets are seeing buying support today, with the S&P and Dow up approximately 0.5% and the Nasdaq gaining over 1% on the heels of strong earnings. Buying accelerated after news that the US and China leaders will be meeting next week. So far, more than 80% of S&P 500 companies that have reported have exceeded earnings expectations. The market still anticipates a 99% chance of a rate cut next week, despite tomorrow's lagging CPI data release. Equity options volume was back above 9 million contracts, with increased call option volume in mid-dated expirations, 30 to 90 days out. In the crypto space, Bitcoin futures had a big range day, trading between $107,000 and $111,500, with the $107,000 area acting as technical support. Ether futures saw volume over 165,000 contracts today.
