The Dow hit a new intraday record on strong earnings from Coca-Cola and 3M, while the S&P and Nasdaq-100 mostly traded near the flat line. We are in the heart of earnings season, with Netflix, Texas Instruments, Tesla, and IBM reporting this week, and over three-quarters of S&P companies that have posted results have beaten estimates. An optimistic outlook exists, alongside anticipation for a possible rate cut next week and upcoming CPI data this Friday. In the equity option market, E-mini S&P put volume continues to soar. Short-term open interest in all E-mini S&P options was decidedly bearish, with over 80% of the options expiring in five days on the put side. Call option volume saw a noticeable uptick in the E-mini Nasdaq, and implied volatility dropped to about 11% from 19% last week. Bitcoin futures saw a huge range today from just under $108,000 to just over $114,000, testing the key $110,000 support level, and Micro Bitcoin futures volume topped 100,000 contracts at the CME today.
