Live Cattle and Feeder Cattle futures experienced a choppy trade, starting lower before rallying to new weekly highs. December Lean Hog futures, however, dropped and extended losses for the week. The wholesale boxed beef report was firm, but the five-area average price for live steers was reported on very light trade volume. Slaughter numbers were also down year-over-year due to a government shutdown, which also delayed the Commitment of Traders report.
