Since July, the U.S. dollar has entered a tight, sideways consolidation pattern. The Australian dollar has edged higher against the greenback, possibly reflecting the ongoing strength in gold. In contrast, the Canadian dollar, or loonie, has lagged behind WTI Crude Oil's recent rally, with the loonie down nearly 3% since early July. Looking ahead, Canada's upcoming employment data could provide a catalyst for further movement.
