Live Cattle futures gained on Friday, extending gains to $3.80 for the week, while October Feeder Cattle futures also saw a significant gain, rising $8.37 for the week. Lean Hog futures were quiet, with the December contract losing $0.07 on the day. Boxed beef was softer, with choice cuts down $2.80 and select cuts down $2.22. The daily slaughter was reported at 112,000 head, 11,000 less than the same time last year. The week's consolidation may be due to positioning into the Cattle on Feed report.
