Stocks were lower early Tuesday as U.S. markets followed a downward trend from overseas, with the Nasdaq, S&P 500 and Dow all declining. European manufacturing PMIs were mixed, with the eurozone moving into expansion territory while Germany and the U.K. remained in contraction. The U.S. manufacturing PMI also missed expectations. Gold futures and silver futures both climbed to new all-time highs, while crude oil futures were also higher. Looking ahead, JOLTS job openings data and the U.S. Beige Book are on the calendar for Wednesday.
