Gold futures fell, bouncing off its low, but unable to turn positive on the day, marking its fifth lower session in the last six. The flight-to-safety unwind continues, although it is not aggressive, as stocks and other risk assets continue to move lower. Atlanta Fed President Raphael Bostic stated he only sees one interest rate cut as likely for the rest of the year. Per the CME FedWatch tool, the probability of a rate cut at the September FOMC meeting dropped from 95% on Monday to 71.5% on Thursday. This drop is due to speculation that Jerome Powell will put up roadblocks to a September rate cut at his Jackson Hole speech.
