• Resumption of CME Lean Hog and Feeder Cattle Indexes

    • Now that relevant data is being reported by the USDA-AMS, the calculation and distribution of the CME Lean Hog and Feeder Cattle Indexes which has been temporarily suspended (see SER-6862, dated October 2, 2013) will resume.
       
      Specifically, the CME Feeder Cattle Index for the seven-day period ending on October 18, 2013 will be released in the afternoon of Monday, October 21, 2013. The CME Lean Hog Index for the two-day period ending on October 18, 2013 will be released in the morning of Tuesday, October 22, 2013.
       
      Note that some historical data may not be initially available from the period prior to October 17, 2013 in which the USDA reporting systems were not active. As historical data becomes available from USDA-AMS, it will be entered into the relevant Index calculation for the appropriate date, where possible. The lack of historical data is not expected to have an impact on the final settlement price for October 2013 Feeder Cattle futures and options since the reporting period for transactions included in the CME Feeder Cattle Index used for the October 2013 final settlement is October 25 through October 31, 2013.
