Effective Sunday, August 30 (trade date Monday, August 31) trading sub accounts will be supported under a “parent” clearing account established by a clearing member firm. The clearing account must be enabled for CME ClearPort.

A new trading firm entitlement, Trader Risk Administrator, will support creation and management of the new trading sub accounts.

The Clearing Member Risk Administrator will support creation and management of the clearing account.

Two types of clearing accounts will be allowed:

      • Omnibus Account – for non-member clearers
        • This allows non-member clearers to establish trading sub accounts for their individual customers and manage risk at the customer level.
        • The clearing member firm for the non-member clearing firm creates a clearing account, and it is flagged as an Omnibus account.
        • The Trader Risk Administrator (at the non-member clearer) can create trading sub accounts under the clearing account and assign any CME ClearPort registered trading firm as the trading sub account owner.
      • Non-Omnibus Account for trading firms
        • This allows trading firms to establish trading sub accounts and manage risk at the sub-account level.
        • The clearing member firm for the trading firm creates a clearing account, and it is not flagged as an Omnibus account.
        • The Trader Risk Administrator (at the trading firm) can create trading sub accounts under the clearing account and the trading firm is automatically assigned as the trading sub account owner.

Additional information on is available online.

This enhancement will be available in New Release on Wednesday, August 19 and in the Certification environment on Tuesday, August 25.
