Effective this Sunday, December 7 (trade date Monday, December 8), CME Account Manager Clearing Firm Administrators for CME Globex will be able to define custom Futures Price Bands for their CME Direct customers. Price bands are designed to ensure market integrity by subjecting all orders to price validation and rejecting orders outside the given band. This mechanism prevents antagonistic or erroneous orders, such as limit bids at prices well above the market or limit offers at prices well below the market, from transacting market-moving trades that require subsequent cancellations.
With this launch, CME Account Manager Clearing Firm Administrators for CME Globex can define more restrictive price bands per product on a firm level or a particular CME Direct user. CME Account Manager will also support the creation of a Price Banding template, which may be applied to multiple firms, users and products.
Please note: all orders will still be subject to the exchange-defined Price Bands set by the Global Command Center.
