SUBJECT:     Registrar – Third Party Providers

The Exchange has been notified that certain market participants are seeking to use third party providers—such as AVA Global Logistics—for logistical support in the secure transportation of gold, platinum and palladium, under Exchange Rules.  Notice is hereby given that such facilitators do not require Exchange approval for use in this context, provided that the actual transportation is still performed by an Exchange Approved Carrier (https://www.cmegroup.com/rulebook/files/service-providers.xls) or agent thereof and, thereby, the chain of integrity for each such metal is maintained, as required by the applicable metals futures contract rule chapters.  For the avoidance of doubt, solely for the purposes of compliance with, and enforcement of, CME requirements, the Approved Carrier retains responsibility and liability for the safe transport of the metal and the integrity of the chain of custody.
