The equity and precious metal markets are seeing strong back and forth price action after Warsh began speaking about the interest rate decision to raise rates by 25 basis points. Initially the market was trending slightly higher, and once Warsh began to talk the equities and metals both saw selling pressure into the close. The Dow led the selling in the equities trading lower by about 1.5% while Gold and Silver are both lower by about 0.6%. The FedWatch tool also saw a change and the market is now pricing in potentially 2 more 25 basis point hikes for the rest of the year where only 1 was previously being priced in. There is more economic data coming tomorrow with Initial Jobless Claims and some manufacturing data that could add volatility headed into the weekend.

Technical and fundamental analysis are both key aspects of the trading world, but each serve their own purpose. Many traders will use fundamentals to understand the general landscape of a given market and then jump to the technicals to try and identify entry and exit points for a trade based on their fundamental bias.
