At-a-Glance
Today’s Top Highlights
As we close out this week, there has been a lot of volatility and negative price action on the equities and precious metals, but the last 2 days of this week started to change that. The equity markets have been under pressure for the entire month of July, and the Nasdaq has taken most of the hit as the negativity came from selling pressure from large tech stocks. The last 2 days showed positive price action after rebounding from technically “oversold” levels and some positive earnings reports released yesterday looking at Apple and Amazon. This move today and yesterday does not negate the move lower we saw during the month, but shows buyers are still ready to step in when prices get hit to the downside.
Looking for the month of July, Gold and Silver saw some good back and forth price action, but ultimately traded relatively flat for the month, not being able to get strong momentum in either direction. These markets experienced more selling pressure before July began and are still looking for a direction to trade, either back towards the recent highs or carving out new low prices. The Fed did decide to keep interest rates as they are, and now there is still uncertainty about the September meeting and if that will bring rate hikes, which could shake up these markets that have already been volatile.

Neither futures trading nor swaps trading are suitable for all investors, and each involves the risk of loss. Due to the leveraged nature of futures trading and swaps trading, it is possible to lose more than the amount deposited in a position. Therefore, traders should not deposit more funds than they can afford to lose without negatively affecting their lifestyles. A trader cannot expect to profit on each trade, and should only devote a small amount of their available funds to each trade. All references to options refer to options on futures.
