Highlights

Stocks firmed Tuesday on dip-buying after Monday's correction following five straight days of gains. The Dow Jones industrial average firmed 0.4 percent, the S&P 500 edged up 0.3 percent , and the Nasdaq gained 0.6 percent. US Treasury yields, the dollar, and oil prices all declined.

On a quiet news day, bond yields were biased lower after jumping on Monday along with Japanese government bond yields on expectations for Bank of Japan tightening.

Big technology shares were mostly higher, a day after they led the market lower, with Nvidia leading to the upside, as usual. Boeing was a big winner after making positive comments on orders for 2026.
