Highlights
The results show Switzerland is not importing inflation, with the price for goods from abroad falling 0.5 percent in September and 2.7 percent from a year ago. Energy prices was 5.7 percent less expensive in September and the core import price index which excludes petroleum products among other volatile items fell 0.1 percent on the month.
Producer prices showed no change in September and was down 1.4 percent on the year. Core prices also showed no change in September but fell 1.0 percent from a year ago. Pharmaceuticals, which make up 30 percent of the producer price index, showed no change on the month and 3.2 percent decline on the year.
Falling energy prices helped to keep prices in check.
