Highlights
On a yearly basis, nominal sales grew 0.5 percent, the lowest it has been since March. The value of food sales grew 1.6 percent and that of non-food fell 0.2 percent. Volumes were down 1.3 percent on the year, with food down 2.2 percent and non-food down 0.6 percent. Within the non-food category the largest nominal decline was in pharmaceutical products (down 3.4 percent) and electric household appliances (down 3.4 percent).
Compared to August last year, the value of retail sales for large-scale distribution grew 2.5 percent while small-scale distribution declined 2.2 percent. Non-store retail sales fell 2.6 percent while E-commerce grew 6.1 percent.
