Highlights
On a yearly basis, nominal sales fell 2.8 percent, as the value of food sales fell 4.2 percent and that of non-food fell 1.4 percent. Volumes were down 4.2 percent on the year, with food down 6.7 percent and non-food down 2.1 percent. Within the non-food category the largest nominal decline was in stationery, books, newspapers and magazines (down 4.5 percent) and shoes, leather goods (down 4.2 percent).
Compared to March last year, the value of retail sales for large-scale distribution fell 2.6 percent while small-scale distribution declined 3.1 percent. Non-store retail sales declined 4.7 percent while E-commerce fell 1.3 percent.
