In focus Tuesday, US JOLTS job openings and consumer confidence reports both due at 10 am ET. Job openings are expected down slightly at 7.464 million in March versus 7.568 million in February, a sign that the labor market was slowing gradually as spring began. Consumer confidence, a more current April readout, is expected to show tariff fears weighed on consumers, especially after President Trump's April 2 tariff announcements. The index is expected at 87.5, down from 92.9 in March. Inflation expectations are expected higher too.
