Highlights
Net purchases of Treasury bonds and notes at $106.2 billion were positive for U.S. long-term holdings by foreign accounts as were net purchases of U.S. equities of $23.6 billion and net purchases of U.S. corporate bonds at $13.4 billion. On the negative side were modest net sales of government agency bonds of $0.6 billion.
Among top foreign holders of U.S. Treasuries (long and short-term), Japanese accounts increased their holdings by $46.6 billion to $1,125.9 billion in February from $1,079.3 billion in January from $1,061.5 billion in December. Chinese accounts increased their holdings by $23.5 billion to $784.3 billion in February from $760.8 billion in January and $759.0 billion in December.
