Highlights

In macro news Friday, the focus will be on whatever President Trump has to say about import tariffs. Investors will watch in particular any hints that emerge about the expected unveiling on April 2 of reciprocal tariffs on many countries, on top of the shifting array of tariffs and threatened tariffs already announced.

In more conventional news, the focus will be on the monthly US personal income and spending report, which features the PCE price indexes, the Federal Reserve's favored inflation measure. The report, due at 8:30 am ET Friday, is expected to show PCE prices rose 0.3 percent on the month in February for both the total and core price index. PCE is seen up 2.5 percent on year with the core up 2.7 percent versus 2.5 percent and 2.6 percent in January, stubbornly above the Fed's 2.0 percent target.
