In the US, the consumer confidence index for March will attract attention amid concerns that weakening consumption is set to stall the long-running economic expansion. The report, due at 10 am ET, is expected to show another fall in confidence to 94.2 from 98.3 in February, with an uptick expected in inflation expectations too. The index was as high as 112.8 in November and has fallen each month since then.
