Highlights

Markets are bracing for a volatile end to the week as Fridays tend to be big days when uncertainty rises as it has during another week of surprises on trade tariffs and other policy matters from a mercurial President Trump.

On the calendar are top-tier employment reports from the US and Canada, both at 8:30 am ET. For US payrolls, the Econoday consensus looks for an increase of 160,000 for February with no change in the jobless rate at 4.0 percent, although the market whisper number is 126,000. For Canada, the expectation is +15,000 with unemployment rising to 6.7 percent from 6.6 percent.

Later in the day, Fed speakers will appear at the University of Chicago Booth School Monetary Policy Forum in New York, starting with New York Fed President John Williams and Fed Governor Michelle Bowman at 10:15 am ET and Chair Jerome Powell at 12:30 pm ET.
