Highlights
Net purchases of Treasury bonds and notes at $92.1 billion were positive for US long-term holdings by foreign accounts, plus net purchases of US corporate bonds at $34.8 billion, net purchases of government agency bonds of $17.2 billion, offset partly by net sales of U.S. equities by foreign accounts of $7.8 billion.
Among top foreign holders of U.S. Treasuries (long and short-term), Japanese accounts decreased their holdings by $20.6 billion to $1,102,3 billion from $1,123,3 billion in September and from $1,129,2 billion in August. Chinese accounts decreased their holdings by $11.9 billion to $760.1 billion from $772.0 billion in September and from $774.6 billion in August.
