Exports to the Eurozone rose 0.3 percent versus July and increased a more significant 1.3 percent to non-EU countries. Conversely, imports fell 0.7 percent decline, primarily due to a 1.4 percent decline in EU imports.
Year-over-year, total exports were down 6.7 percent while imports fell by 5.7 percent. Exports to EU countries decreased by 6.5 percent, while those to non-EU markets dropped 6.8 percent. Imports from the EU decreased 5.1 percent, imports from non-EU countries fell 6.4 percent.
The August report leaves a flat trend to exports and a slightly rising profile to imports. It also puts Italy's RPI at minus 11 and the RPI-P at minus 19, both readings showing economic activity in general slightly underperforming market forecasts.

Description
Separate reports are published for external and internal EU trade. The extra-EU trade data are compiled on the basis of customs declarations with non-EU countries. The intra-EU trade data (Intrastat) are derived from surveys and provide statistics on trade between Italy and other EU member states. The data are available monthly. World trade data are available within one month after the reference month while intra-EU trade data are available within 7 weeks after the reference month.
