Federal Reserve Board Governor Christopher Waller will give opening remarks before the Summer Workshop on Money, Banking, Payments, and Finance hosted by the Federal Reserve Board of Governors at 9:15 a.m. EDT (1315 GMT).
Policymakers at the People's Bank of China are expected to hold rates unchanged this month, at 3.35 percent for the one-year loam prime rate and 3.85 percent for the 5-year rate, after unexpectedly cutting both the 1-year and 5-year rates by 10 basis points at their July meeting.
The Reserve Bank of Australia will release the minutes of its Aug. 6 meeting at 11:30 a.m. AEST Tuesday (9:30 p.m. EDT Monday/0130 GMT Tuesday). At the meeting, the RBA left its policy rate at 4.35 percent for the sixth straight meeting, as expected, after raising it by 25 basis points to 4.35 percent from 4.10 percent in November. Governor Michele Bullock told reporters that the board considered a rate hike at the meeting and that"the markets are getting ahead of themselves" pricing in a rate cut at this point.
