UK retail sales volumes are forecast to slip 0.1 percent on the month in September following a partial 0.4 percent rebound in August and a 1.1 percent slump in July, when rain deterred shopping. Sales are expected to be flat on the year after falling 1.4 percent in August and 3.1 percent in July.
The US data calendar is thin on Friday.
In Canada, retail sales in August are expected to rise 0.3 percent on the month to match July's 0.3 percent increase that saw prices rise but volumes drop. Statistics Canada's advance estimate for August provided last month is a 0.3 percent drop and some economists expect sales to be flat as elevated consumer prices are eroding households' purchasing power.
