Consumer inflation in Switzerland is expected to be unchanged on the month in September after rising 0.2 percent in August, with the yearly inflation rate accelerating to 1.8 percent from 1.6 percent.

In the US, the Labor Department's JOLTS report is forecast to show job openings will pick up slightly to 8.9 million in August from July's 8.827 million, which was well below expectations and the lowest in more than two years.

Unit vehicle sales in September are expected to increase to a 15.3 million annualized rate from August's lower-than-expected 15.0 million.

The Reserve Bank of New Zealand has kept policy interest rate steady at 5.5 percent at its last two meetings and is expected to do so again at their October meeting. The RBNZ will release its policy decision at 2 p.m. in Wellington on Wednesday, Oct. 4, which is 9 p.m. EDT Tuesday (0100 GMT Wednesday).
