Highlights
The headline index for the CFLP manufacturing PMI rose from 49.7 in August to 50.2 in September, just above the consensus forecast of 50.1 and indicating expansion in the sector for the first time in six months. The CFLP non-manufacturing PMI survey's headline index rose after five consecutive declines, increasing from 51.0 to 51.7, also just above the consensus forecast of 51.5. The composite index covering the entire economy rose from 51.3 in August to 52.0 in September.
Today's data outperformed expectations. The China RPI rose from plus 7 to plus 36 and the RPI-P rose from minus 10 to plus 30, indicating that data are now coming in above market expectations.
